Protecting ocean health from damage to the marine environment is a challenge facing island nations around the world. The purpose of this protection is to prevent marine pollution and damage to marine biota and mitigate disaster damage to marine ecosystems. Unfortunately, most of the factors that cause marine degradation are human-caused, such as the disposal of factory waste, pollution from rivers and land, illegal fishing, and coastal development such as ports and tourism. There are also natural factors that can damage ocean health, such as climate change and disasters.
The sea is a priceless natural wealth that must be protected; therefore, we as humans must maintain and care for the health of the sea by not littering, reducing the use of plastic, conducting large-scale and sustainable fishing, and reforesting on the coast.
