Good Maritime Governance is key to creating a stable and secure maritime environment. Oversight by the government can take the form of formulating and enforcing policies on the maritime sector, allocating marine resources, and monitoring maritime activities to ensure safety, security, efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
The AIS Forum has one of its programs, International Partnership and Cooperation. This program opens collaboration between all parties and broadens the forum’s perspective to achieve global interests. In this program, meetings such as MM, SOM, and High Level Meeting are held to discuss the impact of climate change, which causes Sea Level Rise that threatens the existence of an island nation. Sea Level Rise is an alarming condition where sea levels continue to rise due to climate change caused by global warming. This is a major challenge being faced by island nations around the world, most of which are members of the AIS Forum membership. At the AIS Forum 2023 Summit, world leaders discussed the impact of climate change on the Indo-Pacific region and committed to reducing carbon emissions in each country to reduce Sea Level Rise.
