Fostering Collaboration, Enabling Innovation, for Our Ocean and Our Future
On 11th October 2023, leaders of AIS countries are gathered together, amplified the traction of AIS Forum cooperation, and conducted in-depth deliberations pertaining to viable solutions addressing issues in four main areas, including Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation and Disaster Management, Protection of the Marine Environment from Ocean Health Degradation, Sustainable Economic Development and Blue Job Opportunities, and Good Maritime Government, as well as to achieve the objectives of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 14, Life Below Water.
In this meeting, leaders are discussed about the operationalisation of technological and nature-based solutions, including within future activities that address shared challenges of AIS countries, as well as future cooperation among AIS countries in the AIS Forum through the strategic roadmap to formally recognise the desire of the islanders to come together—united by their shared past and common threats—to develop smart and innovative solutions to these shared development and environmental challenges, which resulted in the adoption of the Leaders’ Declaration on the Solidarity of the Archipelagic and Island States.
